One of Royton’s most popular green spaces is set to get even better thanks to a cash boost from Oldham Council.
In the new year work will begin to improve Dogford Park and install free-to-use outdoor gym equipment.
Residents of all ages will soon be able to take a stroll around a new trim trail and have a go on the new facilities that are being put in place – a spin bike, chest press/seated row station and a rowing machine.
The improvements have come about following talks and suggestions with local residents and park users.
Funding for the work comes following a successful bid of £25,552.80 from the council’s Local Improvement Fund (LIF).
Councillor Chris Goodwin, whose Don’t Trash Oldham Cabinet portfolio covers parks and greenspaces, said: “The council knows how important our parks and greenspaces are to residents, which is why we are always looking to improve them if we can.
“Parks users and residents told us they wanted to see Dogford Park improved. We’ve listened to them and are now delivering.
“That's why we fund projects like these to make a real difference to communities across Oldham.”
There will be some minor disruption while the work takes place but our teams will aim to keep it to a minimum.
Oldham Council established the LIF in 2019 to provide funding for projects across the borough that aim to improve the borough’s neighbourhoods, districts and local communities for the benefit of residents.
