More than 300 young people were given a glimpse of their future at the Oldham Careers Fair.

Hosted by Oldham Council, the free event was designed for 15 to 25-year-olds to explore potential careers, seek new job opportunities, and enhance their skills.

The event, held at Queen Elizabeth Hall in the town centre, featured over 50 businesses, charities, education providers, and training organisations. Attendees were treated to inspiring talks on a wide range of topics, from securing apprenticeships and starting a career in health and social care, to joining the Royal Air Force or pursuing professions in the arts.

Guests had the opportunity to meet representatives from various industries, including healthcare, construction, and education. Organisations present included NHS England, The Prince's Trust, MioCare, and Factory International, among many others.

Cllr Mohon Ali, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: "It was great to see so many young people attend the event and have meaningful discussions with employers. I encourage all young people seeking employment or those who want to explore opportunities in the borough to attend these events in the future. It’s a fantastic way to kickstart your career and gain first-hand knowledge from industry professionals. With our regeneration plans for Oldham in place, including 2,000 new homes and a new co-working space in Spindles, we are attracting businesses, boosting the local economy, and creating more job opportunities for all Oldhamers."

Guests were also supported by Get Oldham Working and Positive Steps, who provided essential career guidance and advice. For ongoing career support, visit their websites for further guidance and opportunities.
