Councillor Mohon Ali, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills visited schools in Oldham to congratulate students as they received their results.
He said: "Congratulations to all Oldham students receiving their GCSE results today. I'm sure you have all worked so hard and should be very proud of your achievements. For those students who didn't get the results you were hoping for, don't panic - there are many options and lots of support available to you.
"Whatever path you choose next in life there is lots of advice and guidance here to help you take the next steps."
Councillor Umar Nasheen, Deputy Cabinet Member for Education and Skills also visited schools on the day and said: "There are so many talented young people here in Oldham so it's fantastic to see that talent reflected in many of the great results achieved today.
"A big well done and congratulations from me to everyone today - your success is very much deserved."
