Oldham Council bought Spindles Town Square Shopping Centre in October 2020, to take control of this crucial site right in the middle of the town centre.
The shopping centre was previously in private ownership and had started to see more and more units become vacant.
By investing in the shopping centre, we can safeguard its future, support town centre regeneration and help Oldham's recovery from the Coronavirus pandemic.
We plan to completely redevelop the centre – changing it from being solely retail-focused to a place for all the community to use.
This means providing better shops, new space for work and an improved leisure and entertainment offer for people of all ages.
In March 2021, we held a public consultation to help shape the redevelopment. Your views and ideas have helped to shape our plans.
