The Draft Oldham Local Plan consultation deadline was extended to Sunday 25 February 2024 - This consultation is now closed
The Draft Local Plan contains a vision for Oldham based on a set of plan objectives and draft planning policies covering a wide range of topic areas.
It has been informed by comments collected from two consultations previously run by the Council, ongoing studies and pieces of evidence work.
Previous consultations
The Draft Local Plan follows two consultations, previously run by the Council:
- Regulation 18 Notification which was carried out in the summer of 2017
- Issues and Options which was carried out in the summer of 2021
Comments received to the Issues and Options consultation and the Council’s response can be found in the Issues and Options Comments and Response schedule.
A summary of consultations carried out to date and how these have complied with the council's Statement of Community Involvement is set out below in the Consultation Statement.

We'd like to hear your views on the proposed vision, plan objectives, planning policies, designations and site allocations in the Draft Local Plan.
The comments we receive back will help inform the next stage of the plan – the Publication Stage.
We are currently out to consultation on the Draft Oldham Local Plan Document.
The consultation dates are taking place for a period of 6 weeks, from Wednesday 10 January to Sunday 25 February 2024.

Please note all comments will be held by the council and will be available to view publicly.
Comments cannot be treated as confidential.
Your personal information, such as your postal and e-mail address, will not be published, but your name and organisation (if relevant) will.
After the consultation
At the end of the consultation we will review all the comments that have been submitted.
The feedback we get during the consultation will help to further shape and develop the Draft Local Plan.
We will then move to the next stage of the Local Plan Review (Publication Stage) where the council will issue a final draft of the Local Plan for formal consultation.
