The Greater Manchester Joint Waste Plan Document (Joint Waste Plan) was prepared jointly between the ten Greater Manchester authorities, and it identifies how Greater Manchester will deliver the spatial vision for waste development to 2027.
It sets out policies that enable the adequate provision of waste management facilities in appropriate locations for municipal, commercial, and industrial, construction and demolition and hazardous wastes.
The Joint Waste Plan identifies the potential locations of waste management facilities and sets out development management policies that will assist in the determination of planning applications.
The Joint Waste Plan supports Policy 7 ‘Sustainable Use of Resources – Waste’ in the adopted Joint Core Strategy and Development Management Policies Development Plan Document.
The Joint Waste Plan was adopted on 1 April 2012.
