Nursery-age children:

Sing ‘5 Little Octopus’ together with your child. Count using your fingers how many octopus’ are left at the end of the song.

Make your own playdough and turn it into a dinosaur.

Play hide and seek with the dinosaur and talk to your child about where they found it.
Reception-age children:

Help your child to write a shopping list and make a fruit salad.

Talk about the colours that you can see in the fruit salad and describe the taste. Use prepositions and ask your child to put the pieces ‘in front’ or ‘behind’ other pieces of fruit. Ask your child which is the ‘biggest’ or ‘longest’ piece of fruit.
Leave some small pieces of fruit or veg in a bowl and talk about the changes you see over time. What happens to them? What do they smell like?
