PARLIAMENTARY ELECTION

Election of a Member of Parliament for the Oldham West, Chadderton and Royton Constituency July 2024

  1. An Election is to be held for a Member of Parliament for Oldham West, Chadderton and Royton.
  2. Forms of nomination for the Parliamentary Election may be obtained at Room 222 Civic Centre, West Street, Oldham, OL1 1UL from the Acting Returning Officer.
  3. Nomination papers must be delivered to the Acting Returning Officer, Room 222 Civic Centre, West Street, Oldham, OL1 1UL on any day after the date of this notice between the hours of 10am and 4pm but no later than 4pm on Friday, 7 June 2024.
  4. The £500 required deposit may only be made either by the deposit of any legal tender or by means of a banker’s draft from a drawer which carries on business as a banker in the United Kingdom or by the transfer of electronic funds by means of Faster Payments/Same Day Bank Payment during the time for delivery of nomination papers. 
  5. If any election is contested the poll will take place on Thursday, 4 July 2024.
  6. Applications to be included in the register of electors must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 midnight on Tuesday 18 June 2024. Applications may be made online via the online registration service at: Register to Vote or sent directly to the Electoral Registration Officer at Room 222 Civic Centre, West Street, Oldham, OL1 1UL.
  7. Applications, amendments or cancellations of postal votes and amendments or cancellations of proxy votes must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Room 222 Civic Centre, West Street, Oldham, OL1 1UL by 5pm on Wednesday, 19 June 2024.   8. Applications for a new Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector’s Document valid for this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 5pm on Wednesday 26 June 2024. Applications can be made online: Photo ID Voter Certificate - GOV.UK website
  9. New applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Room 222 Civic Centre, West Street, Oldham, OL1 1UL by 5pm on Wednesday, 26 June 2024. Applications can be made online: Apply for a Proxy Vote - GOV.UK website

Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on grounds of physical incapacity or for work/service reasons must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at Room 222 Civic Centre, West Street, Oldham, OL1 1UL by 5pm on Thursday, 4 July 2024. The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5pm on Wednesday, 26 June 2024. To apply on the grounds of work/service, the person must have become aware that they cannot go to the polling station in person after 5pm on Wednesday, 26 June.
