If you are asked to evacuate to a Council Rest Centre, you need to consider the following:
- An overnight bag (toiletries, warm clothing) if there is time.
- Medication you need
- Pets
- Baby food/milk, nappies and clothes if you have young children
- Turn off all utility supplies
- Take any valuables, cheque book, social security documents and money with you
- Lock windows and doors
Inform the police or a neighbour if you decide to stay with friends or relatives instead of at the Rest Centre.
If you have special needs or are elderly, don’t worry. All your needs will be catered for and arrangements made.
Oldham Council and the emergency services are trained to deal with such incidents and will be doing all they can to ensure your safety.
