A citizenship ceremony is when the Home Office invites you to give an oath of allegiance or (a citizenship pledge).
You must attend the ceremony if you wish to become a British citizen.
You will be invited to a group ceremony if:

Your application for British citizenship is successful, and if

You are 18 years or older
Your invitation will have:
- Guidance notes explaining the next steps to take
- The wording of the Oath or Affirmation of allegiance and citizenship Pledge
- Your personal details for you to check
- The telephone number and address of your local authority
Once you have received the information, contact Oldham Register Office, to book the next available ceremony.
A private ceremony can be arranged for £137 if preferred.
