3. Equality objectives
Under the duties of the Equality Act (2010) and the Public Sector Equality Duty, a local authority must set at least one equality objective for the organisation. Oldham Council adopted four equality objectives in April 2012 which were set for three years. We have now refreshed our equality objectives for 2019-2023.
Oldham Council’s ambition is to deliver a cooperative future where everyone does their bit to create a confident and ambitious borough. Our equality objectives complement and support the delivery of our co-operative ambition for the borough, by ensuring that we are inclusive in our approach. The equality objectives identify two key areas which we believe have the potential to drive further improvements in our equality performance and further strengthen and develop our intelligence and evidence base and be deliverable within existing resources.
