How do you identify special educational needs and disabilities?

We identify special educational needs and disabilities by working in partnership with parents and any professionals involved with the family or child, and through thorough observations and assessments. Our nursery has both an area SENCO manager and an on-site SENCO who conduct regular checks.

How do you involve parents/carers?

We work in partnership with parents; when we identify any concerns, we involve parents straight away and make them aware of our observations. They are involved in the process from the start and when contacting outside agencies. We also hold regular parents' evenings, provide daily feedback, and share assessments and observations through our online portal.

How do you support a child’s learning and development?

We support a child's learning and development through regular observations linked to the current EYFS curriculum. Parents can log into their child's file using a unique password to view and add observations. We also hold regular parents' evenings, allowing parents to discuss their child's progress with their key worker and review their development in detail.

How do you meet a child’s educational needs?

We meet a child's educational needs through regular observations conducted by their key worker. By tracking progress, we can identify areas where a child may need additional support and implement necessary interventions. At the end of each day, the key worker provides feedback to parents about their child's activities and overall experience, ensuring consistent communication and support.

How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?

We know your child is achieving agreed outcomes by initially establishing a baseline when they first start at the nursery. From there, regular observations are uploaded to the child's online learning journey, and linked to the EYFS. Throughout the year, we conduct tracking to identify any areas needing specific focus for your child, ensuring continuous and targeted support.

How accessible is your service, outside and inside?

Our service is highly accessible both indoors and outdoors. Children have continuous provision throughout the day, allowing them to freely move between indoor and outdoor areas as they wish, all under the supervision of a practitioner.

How do you involve children in outings and trips?

We involve children in outings and trips by orgganising regular local walks withinthe community, including trips to the park and nature walks. We ensure higher staff to child ratio during these outings to maintain safety, and all children are including in these cativities.

How do you work with other organisations?

We work with other organisations by partnering parents and external agencies, holding regular meetings, and providing updates on child’s progress. We ensure that all parties are informed of any changes related to the child’s care and development.

How do you support children when they start and leave?

We support children when they start by arranging a home visit, completing an "All About Me" form, and completing an “Early Years Journal” which includes a baseline assessment to understand the child's developmental stage. Gradual admission follows, taking one to two weeks based on the child's needs. When a child is leaving, we complete transition documents, involve parents in the process, and establish links with the new setting or school to ensure a smooth transition.

How are you/staff trained in extra needs?

We have a nursery SENCO and an area SENCO and our staff are trained in supporting extra needs through local authority programs. Whenever training is available, our staff attend to ensure they are equipped to meet the diverse needs of all children.

Our policy on compliments, complaints, and concerns encourages you to approach the manager of the setting. Additionally, you can contact the company Quality and Safeguarding Manager, the Company Director, OFSTED, or the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) for further assistance.
