Our service times can be flexible to meet the needs of working parents and is available at weekends and evenings as required. Oldham SEND IAS Service (formerly known as Parent Partnership) ensures that parents/carers of children and young people with special educational needs and/or disabilities; and young people themselves, have access to high quality Information, Advice and Support Services. These services are widely respected as an impartial source of information and support in relation to Education, Health or Social Care provision.
Our support services are tailored to your individual needs and are both personal and confidential. We can offer you:
- Independent and impartial information on all matters relating to the Education, Health and Care provision for children and young people with Special Educational Needs & Disability (SEND)
- Legally trained in SEND law to provide high quality advice and support
- Are independent of the Local Authority
- Support is available by phone, email, website and face to face meetings
- Advice about working with those involved with you, your child or young person
- Information about local support networks
- Support to arrange Mediation and Disagreement Resolution
- Support with SEND Tribunal claims Opportunities to improve and shape services through our SEND IAS Steering Group
Our role is to enable children, young people and their families to support themselves.
You will find access to a range of information on our website which will help you to understand local policy and the SEN legal framework enabling you to support your child or young person more effectively.
SEND IAS is part of the National IAS network who engage strategically with the Department of Education (DfE) on key issues arising for SEND IAS Services. Our officers have achieved IPSEA Legal training Level 1 and 2 and Independent Support training on Health, Education and Social Care legislation.
