YesHow do you identify special educational needs and disabilities?
Special needs and disability can be identified through various assessments and evaluations. I would mainly use observations of behaviour, learning and interactions with others at my setting. By noticing unusual behaviour or developmental delays and when necessary speaking to parents and other appropriate multi-agency professionals to support the child and familyHow do you involve parents/carers?
Involving parents and carers in identifying special needs and disabilities can be done through regular communication and collaboration. This can be achieved by logging in journals the observations and possibly assessments from both parents and caregivers, as well as by providing opportunities for open honest communications. It is also important to provide resources and support to parents and carers to help them understand their child's needs and how they can best support them. How do you support a child’s learning and development?
I can support your child's learning and development by creating a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment that encourages exploration, play and socialisation. I can also develop age-appropriate activities and lesson plans that align with your child's interests, strengths and developmental needs. Additionally, I can provide regular updates on your child's progress and work collaboratively with you to ensure that your child's learning and development goals are being met.How do you meet a child’s educational needs?
I would ensure each child's educational needs and well-being are met by; Creating a safe and nurturing environment where each child feels comfortable and secure, developing a structured routine that includes educational and play activities, providing age-appropriate educational materials and resources, encouraging your child to participate in activities that promote physical and mental well-being, such as outdoor play and mindfulness exercises and communicating regularly with parents to ensure that your child's needs are being met and to address any concerns or questions you may have. How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?
I will work closely with parents to establish clear and measurable outcomes for their children. I will regularly review children's progress with parents to ensure that they are meeting these outcomes. I will also provide parents with regular updates and reports on their child's development and achievements. Additionally, I will encourage open communication between parents and me so that we can address any concerns or issues that may arise. How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?
I can adapt activities and resources by assessing the child's needs and abilities, modifying activities to suit the child's interests and strengths, using visual aids and sensory resources to support learning, providing additional support and assistance when needed, encouraging inclusion and interaction with other children, working closely with parents and professionals to ensure the child's needs are met, being flexible and willing to adjust activities and resources as needed. How accessible is your service, outside and inside?
Accessibility in my setting is important to ensure that all children regardless of ability can participate fully in activities and learning experiences. I ensure all learning spaces, indoors and outdoors are safe and easily navigable by the children and appropriately equipped with easy to reach resources to support children's learning and development and children are free to ask for any resources that they want to engage with. How do you involve children in outings and trips?
I plan regular outings to nearby parks, museums, libraries and other child-friendly attractions. I would also involve parents in the planning process and seek their input on activities and destinations. Additionally, I would encourage children to share their own interests and ideas for outings and incorporate them into our plans. Finally, I would ensure all outings are safe and appropriate for the age and abilities of the children in my care. How do you work with other organisations?
I would collaborate with external agencies such as local authorities, health services and educational providers to support children with SEND. This might involve attending meetings, sharing information and working together to create individualised care plans that address the child's specific needs. I would also communicate regularly with the parents or carers to ensure that they are aware of any updates or changes to the child's care plan. How do you support children when they start and leave?
I support children starting and leaving the setting by creating a warm and welcoming environment. For new children, I give them plenty of opportunities to explore and get familiar with the setting, while also building a positive relationship with them. For children leaving the setting, I will help them understand the transition process and provide them with emotional support during this time as it is important to communicate with both the children and their families to ensure a smooth transition process. How are you/staff trained in extra needs?
Myself and all assistants joining my setting will be training through a combination of formal training and on-the-job experience. Formal training includes attending workshops and webinars hosted by Tiney (registered childminding agency) or Oldham Council on topics related to special needs such as behaviour management, communication strategies and developmental milestones. Additionally, providers may work closely with parents, therapists and other professionals to develop individualised plans for each child in their care. It is important for all staff to have a deep understanding of each child's unique needs and to be able to adapt their approach to meet those needs. What is your policy on compliments, complaints, concerns?
You can contact my Tiney home, My childminding agency (Tiney) and my local council (Oldham) and in case of a concern or complaint, I and my Childminding agency would take any and all necessary measure to ensure your concerns and complaints are handled in an appropriate manner.
