How do you identify special educational needs and disabilities?

Through regular observation having good communication with children's parents and keeping up to date with current training offered.

How do you involve parents/carers?

I will communicate regularly with parents and voice any concerns I had to parents immediately

How do you support a child’s learning and development?

I will help support your child’s learning development by keeping a daily diary of activity’s and will include the main areas of learning in the EYFS and have regular contact with parents

How do you meet a child’s educational needs?

By constantly updating their file and having good communication with parents and making sure our learning is tailored to fit your child’s next steps

How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?

By regular assessments and following ‘next steps’ in your child’s development and keeping up to date with the EYFS

How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?

By assessing the abilities of the child first with help of parents and healthcare professionals, and making sure all my resources and activity’s are suitable for all children

How accessible is your service, outside and inside?

I have two steps to the front door and one small step at the backdoor my back garden is flagged but in the summer time I put foam mats on the ground as we spend a lot of time outdoors when the weather is suitable, the children would be constantly supervised

How do you involve children in outings and trips?

this would depend on the child, I would risk assess and maybe contact the venue we are visiting to make sure it is accessible for us, no child would ever be left out

How do you work with other organisations?

I would firstly communicate with parents to find out any health professionals involved with the child and work in a Partnership with them with good communication to make sure the child has the best outcome

How do you support children when they start and leave?

By doing a settling in session And doing regular assessments and adding them to the child’s file so this can then be passed on to School when the time comes for them to leave so the school know where the child is up to academically

How are you/staff trained in extra needs?

By attending regular SEND training organisations by Oldham council and other external bodies
