YesHow do you identify special educational needs and disabilities?
By speaking with the parent/carer and gather information from them, liaising with other professions with the permission from parent/carer. Observations will help with this and past observations also. How do you involve parents/carers?
I will be providing a daily diary for information to be shared between me and the parent/carer. I will also be doing term parents evening so we could discuss anything further on a more one to one basis. How do you support a child’s learning and development?
Observations help with this as this will then highlight any area the child may need further help with and this would be great if myself and the parent/carer could work on at home and in my care. How do you meet a child’s educational needs?
Through communication with parent/carer and any key person. I will be following the Early Years Foundation Stage for the development and this will help me set tasks and activities to help improve on the child’s development. How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?
Again using daily logs and observations and using the Early Years Foundation Stage for a guide. How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?
I would plan the activities for the children in my care and again by having up to date observations this will be easier as I would know what the child’s next steps will be and I would set my activity around this and include all children. How accessible is your service, outside and inside?
I have steps on both my front and back door. How do you involve children in outings and trips?
Trips away from home will be planned and looked into by contacting them or checking their facilities online. I will risk assess any outing. How do you work with other organisations?
By exchanging information with the early years, health visitors, teachers, carers also with any other professionals that the child maybe under with the correct permissions in place with parents. How do you support children when they start and leave?
When a child is to start with me I will be offering a settling in period for the child and parent. They can then see how I run my setting and also to build a bond between me and the child. Also in my parent pack I have documents for the parent to fill in so I can get to know the child likes and dislikes. How are you/staff trained in extra needs?
I keep all my mandatory training up to date, I also access any relevant training opportunities offered to me. I do not have any staff at the moment. What is your policy on compliments, complaints, concerns?
I am very approachable so I hope you could come to me with any complaints or concerns directly, if not each parent is provided with the complaint procedure in my policies. Any verbal or cards compliments will be logged or stored in a file.
