How do you identify special educational needs and disabilities?

By regularly observation and assessment of the children and discussing with parents. Also through training which helps me to identify children with SEND.

How do you involve parents/carers?

I will work in partnership with parents, discuss with them about the observations and assessment. Where there any concerns I will take note, so that together we can achieve the best outcome for the child.

How do you support a child’s learning and development?

I share with parents their child learning development file and provide activities to do at home. This will help the children to reach their goals.

How do you meet a child’s educational needs?

By ensuring that each child and their progress needs are met, and I will keep track of each child’s development and progress within their individual learning journeys.

How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?

Parents will have access to their child’s daily logbook and learning journey. Their achievement journey will outline what level the child is at, what they do well and plan for the next step in their development.

How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?

By making sure all activities, resources and the learning environment are safe and easy to access for all children.

How accessible is your service, outside and inside?

All my resources are easily accessible, and everything is kept downstairs in a safe places where all safe groups can reach. I have a toilet downstairs, upstairs and back garden where there are some plants such as tomatoes and carrots etc.

How do you involve children in outings and trips?

Whenever we plan on going on trips, we always let the parents know about it and all children will be involved in routine outings e.g. parks, shops, toddler groups and many other places. Sometimes by bus or car.

How do you work with other organisations?

We always seek advice and information, work with external agencies to seek appropriate advice and referrals. Let parents obtain as much information as possible to be able to help support the child.

How do you support children when they start and leave?

We provide all children with settling in sessions and ask parents to complete questionnaires detailing the child’s routine and their likes and dislikes. When they leave the setting, they are provided with their last tracker.

How are you/staff trained in extra needs?

Staff attend training regularly and SEND training courses online. And also catchup whilst in the setting.

What is your policy on compliments, complaints, concerns?

I provide parents with a copy of my complaints policy and what action they need to take and the outcome. Also contact number of Ofsted which is displayed at the setting.
