YesHow do you identify special educational needs and disabilities?
By completing observations in the nursery and reviewing this along with the development matters section of the EYFS to complete assessments for children. Any concerns discussed with parents, health visitors and other outside agencies if all involved agree it is needed.How do you involve parents/carers?
We complete assessments with parents input and continuously involve parents in reviews for their child.How do you support a child’s learning and development?
We will plan support that we can put in place in nursery and share this with ideas of support that parents can also use at home.How do you meet a child’s educational needs?
Through regular observations and assessments alongside the EYFS. We put individual plans in place for each child that is tailored around their interests and needs, this is wrote with parents and any outside agencies involved with the child.How do we know my child is achieving agreed outcomes?
We will record the child’s responses to any support we put in place and share this with parents through a Tapestry account online. We then hold parent meetings termly to discuss the progress made and next steps to support their child with.How do you adapt for a child with extra needs?
We use information that is advice from outside agencies such as, additional educational needs advisors, speech and language therapist, health visitors and regular SENCo network meetings.How accessible is your service, outside and inside?
The children have a free flow of indoor and outdoor incorporated into the daily routine.How do you involve children in outings and trips?
Any activities outside the setting or trips will be planned prior to the event and staff/adults will be available to support all children and meet their needs during the event to ensure that all children have the same access to the activity.How do you work with other organisations?
We work with a range of outside agencies and liaise with them by the telephone, meetings online, observations carried out in the setting and attend any meetings with other agency’s when needed.How do you support children when they start and leave?
Before a child starts at our setting we offer settling in sessions and this is discussed with parents to ensure the sessions meet the child’s needs. When a child is leaving our setting, we support the transition by holding a meeting with the new nursery/school, and provide activities, stories and support for the child before the change is made.How are you/staff trained in extra needs?
By Attending regular SENCo network meetings and any other training that support SEN. Also, by holding in house training at staff meetings to ensure that all staff are using consistent strategies in the setting.What is your policy on compliments, complaints, concerns?
Parents can discuss any concerns at any time with staff or management team, we will always take any concerns or complaints seriously and take action immediately. If you feel that you are not happy with the response you can make a formal complaint following our complaints procedure and we will respond to this in writing offering a meeting to discuss the action to be taken. If your still not happy with this you can take the complaint to OFSTED details for this are provided on our parents notice board.
