Ordinary Oldhamers

We are celebrating our 175th Anniversary. In the celebrations, remarkable stories about everyday local people are taking centre stage.

We’ve launched the ‘Ordinary Oldhamers, Extraordinary Lives’ project. It highlights some of the amazing people who have lived in the borough. This includes current residents.

People in Oldham and across the country are being asked to tell us about people with special, unusual, or noteworthy lives. They will be celebrated in style during this special year.

The Ordinary Oldhamers, Extraordinary Lives project aims to uncover and highlight the remarkable stories of people from across the town. They can be from the past or present and have done or experienced something truly extraordinary.

It could be a story about courage, a great grandparent, family, community service, amazing achievements, overcoming personal challenges, or maybe an unexpected event or brush with fame. We want to hear about it.

You can include as much or as little information as you have about the person and their story, and upload a photo if you have one too.

You can nominate someone via our straightforward online form
